About
Welcome to Secrets of a Kitchen Wizard!
My name is Mari Suzuki, and I am the author of “Kitchen Wizard Flexipes: Simple Time-Saving Secrets for Tasty Global Cuisine”. I am not a chef, nor a nutritionist. I am a Kitchen Wizard. An infinite array of delicious dishes come out of the thin air of my kitchen in no time — as if whipped up by a magical wizard.
I consider myself a Cooking Optimization Expert, not because I have a fancy culinary degree, but because I’m just plain passionate about eating great food from all over the world, and figuring out how to make a variety of healthy, tasty dishes at home with the least amount of time, effort, and money. A quick and cheap alternative to traveling across the globe! Having grown up in Tokyo, Japan, the love of efficiency and delicious, nutritious food runs in my blood. Applying what I learned as Global Logistics Consultant at Federal Express, and as a Systems Engineer at IBM, I created the most simple, flexible and efficient home-cooking process called the Kitchen Wizard Method — great for any kitchen, cuisine, or diet.
I can eat like a football player (according to my father-in-law, a former-quarterback from University of Wisconsin), yet amazingly my weight and energy are at the same levels from when I was 25 — even though I’m now 50. The secret to my health - and happiness - is a balanced diet, food made at home from whole ingredients, and most of all, my Flexipe (flexi-ble reci-pe) bases you find on this site and in my book.
By following my Kitchen Wizard Secrets, you too soon will feel like a wizard in the kitchen!

Mari-san,
It was so nice to see you again at Japan Society event this week! I completely agree with you. It would be great if I can simplify my daily life. It would be more confortable and enjoyable. I look forward to seeing you in near future!
Best,
Kana
I really like your concept to eat healthy but also save time and money using what you already have. Hope to connect regarding my upcoming Assn of Women Home Owners, who I think would really like what you’re doing.
PS I lived in Tokyo for 3+ years, and loved it although my food preference remain western … except for my rice (I didn’t understand why everyone talked about sneaking their own rice in when we first moved there).
Hi Tina,
Welcome and thank you for your comment. I’d definitely love to connect w/ you re: you upcoming event/Assn. Send me an email at mari@kitchenwizardmari.com and we can discuss how we can help each other (and talk about your experience in Tokyo!).
